More than two years after the Northridge earthquake, neighborhoods throughout the San Fernando Valley and the rest of the city are still plagued by vacant, quake-damaged buildings that are slowly deteriorating and becoming havens for vandals and vermin.

There are 398 vacant, quake-damaged buildings in Los Angeles. Here’s a breakdown by type of building:
Total number of vacant, quake-damaged buildings: 398
Multifamily homes: 53%
Single-family homes: 33%
Commercial buildings: 13%
Manufacturing buildings: 1%
* Buildings already deemed a public nuisance: 69
