Hole of the Day
NO. 12, PAR THREE, PLAYED AT 137 YARDS SATURDAY
The par-three 12th hole once again played a major role. It played at 137 yards this time and ranked as the toughest hole in the third round with an aggregate scoring average of 3.432.
Seve Ballesteros had the only birdie. There were 27 pars, 13 bogeys and three double bogeys.
It’s where Greg Norman had a four-shot lead over Nick Faldo, then dunked his eight-iron into the water. He hit a sand wedge from 81 yards to 10 feet and made the putt for a good bogey. Faldo, playing with Norman, flew the green with a seven-iron and had a tough chip shot. He two-putted for bogey and failed to take advantage of Norman’s problems.
