Lauderdale, Saddleback Run Over Fullerton, 16-1
Jon Lauderdale had four hits and drove in five runs as Saddleback beat host Fullerton, 16-1, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Saturday.
The victory keeps Saddleback (23-11, 12-7) two games behind first-place Cypress with five left.
It also was the third consecutive game Saddleback has beaten Fullerton after starting conference play with a 30-9 loss to the Hornets.
Kevin Brady had two hits and drove in four runs and Ryan Ruiz had two hits and drove in three runs for Saddleback, which has won 11 of its last 13 conference games.
Saddleback took advantage of two Fullerton errors to score six unearned runs in the second. Ruiz and Lauderdale each had two-run doubles in the inning.
Tavares Comeaux also had two hits and scored four runs for Saddleback, which added four runs in the third, including two on a single by Lauderdale.
“We have come a long way from a 30-9 thumping,” Saddleback Coach Jack Hodges said.
Brad Downing had two hits for Fullerton (22-12, 9-10).
