Northridge Signs Pitcher From Temecula Valley

Jason Gause, a right-handed pitcher from Temecula Valley High, signed a letter of intent with Cal State Northridge. Gause is 8-0 and batting .454.
Kennedy High third baseman Aldo Pinto has committed to UCLA. Pinto will walk on as a freshman but has been promised a chance to start at second base.
Football
Antelope Valley High tailback Jermaine Lewis has been invited to play in the Shrine All-Star game July 20 at Cal State Fullerton.
Basketball
Doug Leaman, who played at The Master’s College, will play on the Brazilian Olympic team. Leaman was born in Brazil, where his parents were missionaries.
Tim Knight, who guided the Highland High boys’ team to the Golden League championship last season, resigned as co-head coach. Lyn Boop will take full duties.
Cross-Country
Shaluinn Fullove of Louisville High, the 1995 Division IV champion in the State and Southern Section championships, will try to walk on at Stanford in the fall.
Soccer
Louisville midfielder Kim Daws, a Parade All-American, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee Saturday while playing for the Las Virgenes Blazers club team. Daws, who has signed with Duke, said Blue Devil coaches will honor her scholarship.
Swimming
Gina Volpe of Mt. Carmel has signed a letter of intent with Cal State Northridge.
Volleyball
Chatsworth is the No. 2-seeded team in the City Section 4-A Division playoffs behind University and will play host to Banning in the first round Tuesday.
Granada Hills is seeded third and will host Roosevelt.
In the 3-A playoffs, four of the top eight seeded teams are from the Valley Pac-8 Conference, led by Sylmar at No. 3.
