Rock fans planning their summer festivities might circle the weekend of July 6-7, which will bring two major festivals with an Orange County flavor.

Warped Tour 96, July 6 at the Olympic Velodrome at Cal State Dominguez Hills, will be headlined by L.A.’s Fishbone, Pennywise and NOFX, but the card also includes Dick Dale, Dance Hall Crashers, Fluf, Red 5 and Vitamin L, all hailing from or having roots in the O.C. rock scene. Tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster, (714) 740-2000.

Hootenanny 96, on July 7, follows up last year’s successful inaugural Hootenanny at Oak Canyon Ranch near Irvine Regional Park with a high-powered rock ‘n’ roots lineup playing an 8 1/2-hour daylight program. Jerry Lee Lewis and O.C.’s Social Distortion will top the bill; also appearing are Supersuckers, the Blasters, Cadillac Tramps, Southern Culture on the Skids, the Paladins, Sun Demons, Los Infernos, Custom Made Scare and Inbred Jed. Tickets go on sale May 11. (714) 991-2055.

ROLLING THUNDER: Cameras will roll while punks and alternative rockers play May 12 at Club 369 in Fullerton. The free show, starting at 8 p.m., will feature X-Members, Lidsville and Six Feet Deep, all of whom will be videotaped and recorded for a documentary on the Orange County rock scene.

The producers, Pat Brink and James Scoggins, are aiming for a late-August release in local theaters.

Attaching a large title to an extensive subject, “O.C.’s 5400-Day Revolution: A Musical Documentary” will recap 15 years of local punk and alternative rock history with most of the focus on the present. Brink is planning a companion CD featuring the bands that appear in the documentary. Information: (714) 572-1816.
