Florida St. 10, UC Santa Barbara 1--Chuck Howell gave up six hits over seven innings for the Seminoles (49-15), who eliminated the Gauchos (32-20).
Howell (9-2), who returned to the rotation after becoming the Florida State closer in April, walked three, struck out three and gave up only an unearned run.
Stanford 8, Mississippi St. 6--Jon Schaeffer had three doubles and scored three times for the Cardinal (41-17), which extended its school-record winning streak to 18 games with a victory over the Bulldogs (38-23).
MIDWEST
Cal State Fullerton 7, Rice 3--Brian Loyd picked up where Mark Kotsay left off at Wichita, Kan., hitting two three-run homers in a victory over the Owls.
The big test for Fullerton comes today at 9 a.m. PDT, when the Titans (45-14) meet top-seeded host Wichita State (52-9).
Rice (40-22) held Kotsay to one hit in two official times at bat after he drove in nine runs against Delaware on Thursday. He was hit by a pitch and walked twice times.
