Panorama City Rides Cycle to a 10-6 Victory

Seth Barkley was four for four, hitting for the cycle, as Panorama City beat Studio City, 10-6, in a District 20 game Saturday at Alemany High.

Barkley hit a grand slam in the third inning, finishing the game with six runs batted in. He scored twice.

John Wilson added two hits, including a triple and two RBIs and scored three runs for Panorama City (1-0).

Javier Ruelas had a triple and two RBIs for Studio City (0-1).

In other District 20 American Legion games:

Mission Hills 7, Central Valley 6--Robert Torres had three hits, including a double and a triple, and drove in two runs for Mission Hills at Cleveland High.

Mike Schultz had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs, and scored two runs for Central Valley (0-1).

Jared Penwarden added four hits.

Encino 12, Burbank North 2--Andy Campanella had three hits and two RBIs and scored twice for Encino at Burbank High.

Rob Hirsh added two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. He scored three runs.

Tri-Cities 3, Antelope Valley North 2--Jake Stanwood’s two-out infield single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored John Anello with the winning run for Tri-Cities (2-1) at Highland High.

Stanwood (1-0) allowed three hits, struck out three and walked two in three innings of relief.

Verdugo Hills 15, Woodland Hills West 6--Jesus Osuna drove in five runs with two hits--a three-run home run and a two-run single--for Verdugo Hills (2-0) at El Camino Real High.

Phil Onsaga had two hits, including his second home run, for Verdugo Hills.

Mike Conn had a home run, double, single and two RBIs for Woodland Hills West (0-1).

Valley North 10, Sun Valley 9--Tom Morefield walked with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, forcing in Greg Wold with the deciding run at Chatsworth High.

Mike Wexler had three hits and scored three runs, and Morefield had three RBIs for Valley North (1-0).

Wold (1-0) who pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowed two hits and struck out two.

Van Nuys West 12, Van Nuys South 7--Angel Barajas had three hits, including a double, with five RBIs for Van Nuys West at Grant High.

Carlos Flores added two doubles and an RBI.

Santa Clarita South 1, Antelope Valley South 0--Andy Davidson and Brian Hernandez combined on a four-hitter and Chris Wright singled home Eric Ballew in the third inning at Antelope Valley High.

Woodland Hills East 6, North Hollywood East 1--Brian Menkin’s two-run single in the fifth followed Mike Ross’ RBI single as Woodland Hills (1-0) broke open a scoreless game with a four-run inning at Taft High.

Eric Berkley (1-0) pitched five innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.

Sunland Tujunga 6, San Fernando 0--Michael Gallegos (1-0) pitched an eight-hitter, striking out five and walking one for Sunland Tujunga (2-0) at San Fernando High.

Jimmy Stevenson hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and Ethan Slimak had two hits, including a two-run triple, for Sunland Tujunga.

West Hills 23, Sepulveda 4--Nate Dunlap and Brett Reynolds each had two doubles and combined to drive in six runs for West Hills (2-1) at the Mission Hills Little League complex.

Camarillo 12-9, Thousand Oaks 7-7--Albert Ambriz had six hits, including a home run, three RBIs, scored three runs, and stole four bases in a District 16 sweep at Camarillo High.
