Brush Fire Burns 20 to 30 Acres in Forest
A 20- to 30-acre brush fire in a wooded area southwest of Frazier Park was quickly brought under control Saturday and extinguished by about 120 firefighters from several area agencies.
The blaze--which started about 4 p.m. in the Lockwood Valley, five miles from the park in the Los Padres National Forest--was brought under control about 5 p.m. By nightfall, firefighters had extinguished the fire, U.S. Forest Service spokesman Joe Pasinato said.
Pasinato said one structure and several outbuildings were destroyed during the blaze, but he said crews were unable to get close enough to the main building to figure out what it was. No one was injured, Pasinato said.
He said it may take a day or two to determine how the fire started.
