3 Suspects Arrested in Drive-By Shooting
Thousand Oaks police and the Sheriff’s Department Gang Unit have arrested three suspects in a gang-related drive-by shooting that occurred April 2 in Newbury Park, authorities said.
Dario Lopez Jr., 23, of Newbury Park was arrested at his home Thursday morning, police said. About the same time, two 17-year-old males, both of Thousand Oaks, were arrested at a local high school where they were attending summer school, according to Sgt. Mike De Los Santos.
The shooting occurred on Paseo La Perla the evening of April 2. Police say the shooters drove past a house on the cul-de-sac and fired several rounds at a young adult and his juvenile brother.
The bullets struck the house, but no one was injured.
Police say the incident was a retaliatory shooting stemming from ongoing conflicts between two local gangs. There was no contact between the suspects and the intended victims before the shooting, according to De Los Santos.
Lopez is being held at the East County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail. The two juveniles are being held without bail at Juvenile Hall in Ventura.
