Fire Consumes Snack-Food Office in Laguna Niguel
An early morning Sunday fire destroyed the offices of a snack-food business and caused extensive damage to a small commercial office complex, authorities said.
There were no injuries in the two-alarm fire, which apparently started at Beach City Snacks shortly before 1:30 a.m., and burned for 40 minutes until firefighters extinguished the blaze, Fire Authority Capt. Scott Brown said.
The blaze caused an estimated $250,000 damage to the Three Flags Commercial Center at 27601 Forbes Road, a 40-foot by 120-foot strip center that was was unoccupied at the time. A motorist calling on a cellular phone reported seeing smoke.
About 45 firefighters, including six engine and two truck companies, an air utility unit, a fire crew and a salvage unit, were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to a gun shop two doors down from the snack-food company, Brown said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
