Tucay’s Goal Sinks Agoura, 8-7

Alfonso Tucay scored with 1 minute 24 seconds to play, lifting the Burroughs High water polo team to an 8-7 victory over Agoura on Thursday at the Thousand Oaks tournament.

Burroughs (1-0) led, 5-0, at halftime of the first-round match but trailed, 7-6, late in the contest.

Loran Leidenger’s goal tied the score, 7-7, with two minutes to play.

Tucay and Leidenger each had three goals.

Calabasas 10, Crespi 9--Jamey Krauss scored five goals and Reid Roberts added three as the Coyotes (1-0) edged the Celts (0-1) in a nonleague match at Calabasas.

Tyler Ence and Jason Brooks also scored for Calabasas and goalkeeper Mitch Wechsler made 10 saves.

Rick Bejune had three goals for Crespi and goalkeeper Peter Driscoll made six saves.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Notre Dame d. Burroughs, 15-1, 15-3, 15-6--Senior captain Kathryn Martin led the Knights with six kills and four digs in the nonleague season-opener at Burroughs.

Viewpoint d. Oakwood, 15-4, 15-1, 15-11--Senior Taryn Linder and freshman Lauren Campbell each had six kills in the nonleague season opener for host Viewpoint.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Calabasas 12, Thousand Oaks 6--Sophomore Shervin Sardinia and senior Debbie Pepkowitz swept their matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles as the Coyotes (1-0) won a nonleague match at Calabasas.

Harvard-Westlake 16, Marymount 2--Senior Lindsy Forbess swept at No. 1 singles for the Wolverines (1-0) in a nonleague rout of the Sailors (0-2) at Harvard-Westlake. The Wolverines’ No. 1 doubles team of freshmen Chelsea Heller and Tricia Hom also swept.

Westlake 11, Hart 7--Helena Horak swept at No. 2 singles for the Warriors (1-0) in the nonleague match at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Burbank 30, Agoura 41, Crescenta Valley 49--Tim Leahy of Burbank clocked 16 minutes 7 seconds to win the three-mile race at Agoura High.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Master’s 6, Pacific Christian 0--Krissy Trower and Sarah DeWolf each scored twice for the Mustangs (1-2) in a nonconference match at The Master’s.
