Thomas’ Pass Helps Canyon Rope Highland

Rick Thomas’s 31-yard touchdown pass with 6 minutes 24 seconds to play lifted the Canyon High football team to a 39-33 nonleague victory over Highland at Canyon on Friday.
Thomas completed 15 of 31 passes for 231 yards and the touchdown. Canyon’s Jeff McKinley rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown in 12 carries. Monte McKeon had 130 yards and two touchdowns in 14 carries for the Cowboys (1-1).
For Highland (2-1), Kamy Smith completed 13 of 24 passes for 213 yards, including touchdown passes of 78 and 23 yards to Brian Floyd.
