Carrera’s Goals Help Saddleback Win in Water Polo
Ed Carrera, formerly of Irvine High, scored two of his four goals in the third quarter to help host Saddleback beat Rancho Santiago, 12-8, in an Orange Empire Conference water polo game Friday.
Jim Bray scored two of his three goals in the fourth quarter for Saddleback (1-5-1, 1-1). John Naigle scored four goals for Rancho Santiago (5-5, 0-2).
In Orange Empire Conference women’s water polo:
Saddleback 18, Rancho Santiago 5--Claudia Arellanes scored six goals and Natalie Hill added five for host Saddleback (2-1, 1-0). April Russo scored five goals for Rancho Santiago (0-3, 0-2).
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Cypress 5, Santa Barbara 0--Mindy James and Lori Harris each scored two goals for visiting Cypress (2-0), which broke open a close game with four second-half goals.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
Irvine Valley 2, San Bernardino 1--Zack Matthews scored both of Irvine Valley’s goals to keep Lasers undefeated at 6-0.
