WEEK AT A GLANCE: Bohle had 19 kills and 14 digs as Harvard-Westlake upset Fountain Valley, the top-ranked team in Division I-A. Even more impressive, Bohle played despite what seems to be a muscle tear in her stomach. “I had so much adrenaline, I didn’t feel anything,” said Bohle, who believes she hurt herself during warmups. She consulted a physician Tuesday.

News Flash

Sylmar’s Angel Guerrero, a starter at linebacker and fullback, will be held out of the Spartans’ conference opener against Reseda on Friday for being kicked out of last week’s game against Antelope Valley.

Guerrero was thrown out by a referee in the second quarter when the 5-foot-11, 215-pound junior made an improper gesture toward the Sylmar sideline. His absence in the second half allowed Sylmar coaches to get a good look at sophomore middle linebacker Carlos Plascencia, who has earned a starting position.

Former Highland High basketball player John Burrell has enrolled at Antelope Valley College after returning this week from Midland, Texas, where he was to attend Midland Community College.

Burrell, a guard, averaged 29.9 points a game for the Bulldogs and was an All-Valley selection by The Times last season.
