Marsalek Ankle Injury Is a Fracture

Share

Northridge senior running back Chad Marsalek has a fracture in his right ankle and may miss the next two games, Coach Dave Baldwin said Wednesday.

Marsalek, the team’s leading rusher, missed last week’s game because of what was thought to be a sprained ankle. He will be replaced by junior Norman Clarke and freshman Jeramie Thomas.

Stepping it up: UCLA freshman Kim Mortensen ran 16 minutes 52 seconds Saturday to win the collegiate portion of the Stanford Invitational cross-country meet, a 49-second improvement over her time last year as a Thousand Oaks High senior.

Kindred spirits: With 179 yards in the Cal Lutheran football team’s game against Azusa Pacific last Saturday, senior quarterback Ryan Huisenga moved past John Kindred into fourth place among CLU’s passing-yardage leaders. Huisenga has 3,896 yards; Kindred threw for 3,851 from 1975-77.

Picking season: Cal Lutheran’s Stan Rohn is three for three.

The senior linebacker has played in three games this season and has intercepted a pass in each one.

True to school: Some people are proud of their roots. Take Jamal Anderson, the Atlanta Falcons’ third-year running back and former standout at Moorpark College.

“He calls and asks our equipment guy to send him Moorpark College T-shirts,” said Jim Bittner, Moorpark coach.
