Movies to Dominate Sweeps Weekend

It’s another big November sweeps weekend.

Brian Dennehy returns as Chicago cop Jack Reed in NBC’s thriller “Jack Reed: Death and Vengeance,” airing Sunday at 9 p.m. on Channel 4. Charles S. Dutton co-stars as his boss.

CBS presents its lavish four-hour historical drama “Titanic,” Sunday and Tuesday at 9 p.m. on Channel 2. George C. Scott, Peter Gallagher, Marilu Henner and Tim Curry are among the passengers on the ill-fated 1912 voyage of the “unsinkable” luxury liner.

Dana Delany stars in ABC’s “For Hope,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on Channel 7, about a school teacher stricken with a potentially fatal disease, scleroderma. Bob Saget, whose sister died of the disease, directs and is executive producer.

The Family Channel presents “Apollo 11,” Sunday at 7 p.m., a dramatization of the moon landing of 1969. An interactive special follows at 9 p.m. featuring Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

Elsewhere: KCOP’s “Live Premiere Night: Show Boat,” airing tonight at 7 on Channel 13, features coverage of the opening festivities at the Ahmanson Theatre of the acclaimed revival of the landmark musical. Tawny Little, Alex Trebek and Hal Eisner host. Following the special at 8, KCOP will air the 1951 film version.

Drew Carey hosts the “18th Annual CableACE Awards,” airing tonight at 6 on TNT. HBO leads the the pack with 111 nominations. HBO’s “The Larry Sanders Show” scored the most nominations for a single program with 15.
