Pepperdine women’s soccer players Jennifer Evans and Jennifer Peterson have been named first team All-West Coast Conference.

Evans, a senior forward from Simi Valley High, had 11 goals and five assists in earning all-conference honors for the second consecutive year.

Peterson, a freshman forward, scored 12 goals and had seven assists.

Regina Jacobs of Oakland, a 1981 graduate of what is now Campbell Hall High, is ranked fourth in the world in the women’s 1,500 meters by Track & Field News magazine.

Jacobs, 33, is ranked fourth for the 1996 season behind double Olympic gold medalist Svetlana Masterkova of Russia, Patricia Djate of France and Gabriela Szabo of Romania.

Six other athletes with high school or college ties to the region are ranked among the top 10 in their respective events in the United States.

The men are Dave Stephens (Cal State Northridge, 1984), who ranks third in the javelin; Ryan Wilson of the University of Arkansas (Agoura High, 1993), seventh in the 5,000, and Quincy Watts (Taft, 1988), 10th in the 400.

The women are Sharon Hanson (Buena, 1983), second in the heptathlon; Jocelyn Chase (Agoura, 1994), fourth in the pole vault, and Kristin Dunn (Cal State Northridge, 1995), 10th in the javelin.
