Iverson’s Injury Hurts Philadelphia
Philadelphia 76ers rookie point guard Allen Iverson will be out about a week because of a separated left shoulder.
Team surgeon Jack McPhilemy said the top pick in last summer’s draft probably would return next weekend against the Washington Bullets on Friday or at home against the New York Knicks Saturday.
Iverson separated his shoulder Friday night in a 105-89 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He came out of the game in the fourth quarter after colliding with Danny Ferry underneath the Cavaliers’ basket.
The former Georgetown player is the leading scorer among NBA rookies. He scored 16 points Friday night, 7.7 below his team-leading average.
