Hit and Miss for CSUN in Defeat

Getty Dimitrova of Cal State Northridge had 22 kills and 17 digs and Nancy Ma added 12 kills and 23 digs, but Santa Clara came from behind to record a 1-15, 9-15, 15-8, 15-13, 15-11 victory over the Matadors in a women’s volleyball match Tuesday at Santa Clara.

Northridge (20-10) hit .375 in the first game and .222 in the second, but struggled to marks of .133, .000 and .138 in the last three.

Nicki Midwin had 13 kills, 15 digs and four blocks for Northridge and Heather Hofmans added 51 assists and 20 digs.

Jaime Elson had 21 kills, 23 digs and nine blocks for Santa Clara (17-10).

Moorpark d. Cuesta 15-6, 15-8, 8-15, 15-6--Kristin Lee had 18 kills and Julie Watson added 43 assists and the Raiders (15-3, 13-1) won the Western State Conference title at Cuesta.

Michelle Capuano had 16 kills for Moorpark, which finished with six consecutive victories.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Ventura 6, Oxnard 0--Ana Baro scored four goals and Sara Roach and Allyson Munday each had one as the Pirates (19-2-1, 13-1-1) routed the Condors (0-15-2, 0-14-2) in a Western State Conference match at Ventura.

Andrea Christopherson stopped 18 shots for Oxnard, which has a 0-27-3 record over the last two seasons.

MEN’S SOCCER

Mission 3, Oxnard 2--Luis Mesta’s sored his 27th and 28th goals of the season for the Spirits (9-6-6, 4-3-3) in a WSC match at Oxnard (3-12-1, 0-9-1).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 79, Biola 62--Elizabeth Hansell had 20 points and Kim De Vries added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Mustangs in a nonconference game at Master’s.

Master’s (2-1) led, 43-28, at halftime and made 57.6% of their shots in the first 20 minutes.

Pepperdine 79, Mexican National Team 64--Lisa Siders had 29 points, making 13 of 15 shots, and 11 rebounds for the Waves in an exhibition game at Malibu.

Jenny Frank added 11 points and seven rebounds for Pepperdine and sophomore Samantha Rigley, from Alemany High, contributed five points and six assists for the Waves.
