Man Killed Crossing Coast Highway
A 25-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup truck whose driver left the scene before police arrived, investigators said Wednesday.
The accident occurred at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday when the pickup struck Chad Frantzich of Fresno as he crossed Coast Highway near Mountain Road. Frantzich was not in a crosswalk, police said.
The truck continued south and witnesses said they saw two people in the vehicle. Officer Greg Walloch said it was unclear whether the driver knew the vehicle had struck somebody.
Frantzich, who suffered head and chest injuries, was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where he died.
