Ma, Dimitrova on All-Big Sky Volleyball Team

Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball players Nancy Ma and Getty Dimitrova were unanimous selections to the All-Big Sky Conference team.

Dimitrova, a junior middle blocker, led the Matadors with 274 kills and Ma, a sophomore outside hitter, had 273 kills in conference matches.

Dimitrova led the the team in blocks with 80 and Ma led with 240 digs in conference.

Ma, from China, was named the Big Sky’s top newcomer.

Northridge senior setter Heather Hofmans was a second-team selection. She recorded 630 assists and 127 digs in conference play.

Also earning second-team honors was Northern Arizona junior middle blocker Jenny Treglown, a graduate of Royal High.

Hat trick: Pepperdine’s Nicole Sanderson, a junior outside hitter, was named to the All-West Coast Conference team for the third consecutive season and teammate Becci Roehl, a junior setter, was chosen to the second team.

Senior outside hitter Kim Blankinship of unbeaten conference champion Loyola Marymount was named WCC player of the year.

Southern Section mentionables: L.A. Baptist High outside hitter Kristen Jensen was named Alpha League girls’ volleyball player of the year.

Bell-Jeff middle blocker Jackie Johnson was selected Camino Real League player of the year. Viewpoint setter/outside hitter Taryn Linder was named player of the year in the Heritage League.

Keys to the City (Section): Kennedy High outside hitter Christine Thach was selected North Valley League girls’ volleyball player of the year and Chatsworth outside hitter Jennifer Joseph was named West Valley League player of the year.

Sylmar outside hitter Patty Mendoza and setter Sandra Smiley were named co-players of the year in the East Valley League.

Blitz is on: Milken High’s Shana Blitz was named Westside League girls’ volleyball player of the year.
