Capistrano Valley Christian. 12-8, 9-1 in 1995-96. Coach: Rod Markum (fourth year, 35-39). Prospects: Academy League MVP Andrew Jennings, a 6-1 guard, is one of five starters returning. He averaged 21 points and 6.4 rebounds. Tim Baker, James Williams and guards Toby Whitman and Scott Williams return. Key reserves are forward Dravis Dunn, Hader Ghosheh and Wayland Williams. Jeff Postlmayer transferred from El Toro.

Fairmont. 5-15, 1-9 in 1995-96. Coach: Scott Tenchka (third year, 8-31). Prospects: 6-3 center Aman Bhasin, who averaged 15.3 points and 9.5 rebounds, and guards John Paul Alacon and Roy Kim and forward Cuong Tran return to this Academy League team. Others are guards Ricky Lee and Lou Paik, center Chris De Coro and forwards Doug Chang and James Lin.

Liberty Christian. 6-13, 2-8 in 1995-96. Coach: Bryan Speer (second year, 6-13). Prospects: Forwards Jon Stephens and Tim Weddle, who averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds, return. Forward C.J. Leeman and guards Alex Sanchez and Steve Winters should round out the starting five for this Academy League group.

Orangewood Academy. 12-10, 8-2 in 1995-96. Coach: Carey Bell (first year). Prospects: Bell has no bonafide starters returning on this Academy League team, but he says the Spartans should still be considered one of the league favorites. Guards Jairo Cortez and Robinson Cortez are joined by forwards Oliver Karsten, Joey Ozwald and Patrick Rainey, and 6-6 center Nick Wolfson.

St. Margaret’s. 10-14, 7-3 in 1995-96. Coach: Garrett Ohara (third year, 32-19). Prospects: The backcourt looks solid with returning starters Pete Larson and Jon Masters. Junior guard James George also is back, as are forwards Greg Fabrick and Dylan Gilbert and 6-5 center Josh Del Pino. Freshman Hakon Bergheim, San Clemente transfer Dave King and Dana Hills transfer Brian Sternberg are also in tow on this Academy League team.

St. Michael’s Prep. 7-11, 3-7 in 1995-96. Coach: Stephen Boyle (first year). Prospects: Friar Boyle inherits a lineup that includes four returning starters: guards Hung Bui and J.R. Trebels, forward Richard Young and center Mark Payne. Guards Matthew Chaney and Anthony Kim join forward Micah Chaney and figure to see lots of action.

Southern California Christian. 16-10 in 1995-96. Coach: J.T. Cameron (seventh year, 68-64). Prospects: The Arrowhead League team lacks a true point guard. Guards David Mack and Jeremy Smith return, as does 6-2 reserve guard Briklyn Wuich. Top newcomers are guards Marco Cervantes and Chad White and forwards Josh Farrar, Ben Scheoning, Isaac Scott, Mike Shurance and Paul Walburn.

Huntington Beach Claremont. 12-11 in 1995-96. Coach: Greg Snedden (second year, 12-11). Prospects: Four Express League starters return, led by 6-4 center Nick Voorhies and 6-3 forward Randy Miller. Guard Darek Simpson, 6-1, is in his fourth varsity season. Guard Mike Derichsweiler and forward Steven Singhal are back.

Heritage Christian. 18-9 in 1995-96. Coach: Rich Kelly, (first year). Prospects: 6-2 Jared Zielinski averaged 24 points last year for the Express League team. 6-5 center Arron Langston and 6-2 forward Joe Marlowe return. Guard Jamon Fox was a reserve last year. Freshman Todd Warner is a 6-1 forward.
