Luppani Leads Chapman by Cal Lutheran

Flo Luppani scored 27 points, making 12 of 14 from the free-throw line, as Chapman defeated Cal Lutheran, 83-68, Wednesday in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Cal Lutheran.

The Panthers missed only three of 30 free throws and beat the Regals for the fourth consecutive time.

Lyndsay Foss scored 13 points and had eight rebounds and Melissa Lopez scored 12 points for Chapman (3-1), which led at halftime, 38-32.

Evi Orologas had 20 points and nine rebounds for Cal Lutheran (3-1). Brandie Murrish had 17 points and eight rebounds for Cal Lutheran.

In other nonconference games:

Pepperdine 80, Long Beach State 55--Toby Metoyer scored 14 points for Long Beach State (1-3), which lost its second consecutive game. Lisa Siders had 20 points to lead Pepperdine (2-2).

In nonconference wrestling:

Fresno State 41, CS Fullerton 3--Orlando deCastroverde (118 pounds) provided the Titans with their only victory of the match. DeCastroverde defeated Fresno State’s K.L. Laker, 7-4.

Fresno State’s Darin Preisendorf pinned Zenen Pena in 34 seconds in the heavyweight division. Other Fresno State victories included Jason Street’s pin of Fullerton’s Isreal Gomez (177) in 6:48.

Yero Washington won at 134 pounds for the Bulldogs, defeating former Calvary Chapel wrestler Eli Coon, 19-8.
