Coach: John Azevedo (eighth year).

1995-96: 17-0 overall, 4-0 in the Olympic League; the Eagles won their third state title and a sixth Southern Section championship.

Key returners: Arsen Aleksanyan, 152, Jr.; Tino Archuleta, 125, Jr.; Joe Calavitta, 140, Sr.; Louie Hernandez, 145, Sr.; Burt Pierson, 130, Sr.; Josh Saul, 215, Jr.; Josh Schultz, Hwt, Sr.; Ty Wilcox, 160, Sr.

Key newcomers: Mike Bigrigg, 171, Jr.; Armondo Lucero, 112, Jr.; Jay McGuffin, 135, Sr.

Outlook: Azevedo says the team’s goals are to be national and state champions. Based on its powerful lineup, Calvary Chapel is well prepared to win anothtle. The Eagles, who are ranked second in the nation Easton Area (Penn.) High by USA Wrestling in its preseason poll, are led by state champions Calavitta and Wilcox. Look for Archuleta, who may be the best 125-pounder in the state, to make up for not making it to the Division I finals last season--he failed to make weight. Also joining the ranks at 135 pounds is McGuffin, a recent transfer from Cashmere, Wash., where he was a three-time state champion.
