Ortiz, a sophomore from Huntington Beach High, completed an impressive career Saturday with a second consecutive state title at 190 pounds. Ortiz, ranked No. 1 in his weight class all season, had a first-round bye, then pinned his next three opponents. He was selected the top wrestler at the state tournament. Ortiz was 26-0 this season with 21 pins and four major decisions, which is a victory by at least 10 points.
