Kansas City Coach Marty Schottenheimer is hobbling after being hit on the sideline during Sunday’s loss to Indianapolis. “I got a pretty good knee sprain,” said Schottenheimer, who also has occasional back trouble. He said he didn’t know which player hit him.

“I just wasn’t paying attention,” he said. “I was watching a play develop. I saw Sean LaChapelle start to turn back inside, and I looked to see where he was. The next thing I knew, I was on the ground.”

Meanwhile, a benched and bitter Steve Bono--who doesn’t figure he’ll be back with the Chiefs next season--probably will be asked to win a game that could save Kansas City’s season.

“It’s ironic,” said the veteran quarterback from UCLA who will play in place of Rich Gannon, who pulled a hamstring Sunday. “I just need to go out and play well and win a game.”

Bono was pulled in the first half of the Chiefs’ loss to San Diego on Nov. 24 and was told Gannon would be the starter for the rest of the season.

Oakland Coach Mike White said Andrew Glover will start in place of Rickey Dudley at tight end against Seattle on Sunday. Dudley dropped four crucial passes during the Raiders’ 24-19 loss to Denver Sunday.

Meanwhile, quarterback Jeff Hostetler was cleared to practice with the team this week after suffering a concussion against Denver. He’ll be monitored during the week.
