Several of the best tournaments involving region high school basketball teams start today.

Among them is the 32-team Best in the West boys’ tournament at Long Beach City College that includes Harvard-Westlake.

The Wolverines (10-1) open against Long Beach Poly’s junior varsity tonight at 7.

Other first-round games include Bell-Jeff vs. Morningside at 9:30 a.m., Burbank vs. Artesia at 11 a.m., Antelope Valley vs. Inglewood at 12:35 p.m. and Canoga Park vs. Verbum Dei at 3:30 p.m.

In the Hart boys’ tournament, Hart plays host to Verdugo Hills tonight at 8:30.

In girls’ games, Crescenta Valley and Alemany start first-round play today in the Cheyenne tournament in Las Vegas.

Alemany plays Fairfax at 4 p.m. and Crescenta Valley, the defending champion, plays Westminster’s La Quinta at 8 p.m.
