Wise Guys Play in Bowls

Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel is one of nine players on the GTE Academic All-America team who will be playing in postseason bowl games. Wuerffel will lead No. 3 Florida against top-ranked Florida State in the Sugar Bowl. Florida State linebacker Daryl Bush is another of the GTE bright guys.

Virginia running back Tiki Barber will play in the Carquest Bowl against Miami. Kansas State has two Academic All-Americas on its Cotton Bowl team, offensive lineman Jason Johnson and wide receiver Kevin Lockett. Greg Bellisari, an Ohio State linebacker, will be playing in the Rose Bowl; Nebraska linebacker Grant Wistrom in the Orange Bowl; Colorado defensive lineman Ryan Olson in the Holiday Bowl; and tight end Pat Fitzgerald of Texas in the Fiesta Bowl.
