Cal Lutheran Downs Whittier
Anita Richardson and Evi Orologas each scored 20 points and Cal Lutheran closed out the first half of play in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 74-64 victory Tuesday over host Whittier College.
Richardson made 10 of 21 shots and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Orologashit seven of 10 shots.
Brandie Murrish added 18 points and 15 rebounds for Cal Lutheran (11-6, 4-2).
Brenna Holcomb had 27 points for Whittier (4-14, 0-6).
BASEBALL
The Master’s 1, Southern California College 0--Aaron Penberthy’s sacrifice fly scored Jim Young for the Mustangs (1-3) in the 10th inning of a nonconference game at Southern California College.
Cerritos 9, Pierce 4--Jim Uline’s home run in the second inning and Josh Morgan’s run-scoring single in the third gave the Brahmas (0-2) a 4-1 lead, but it didn’t hold up in a nonconference game at Pierce.
Pasadena City 3, Antelope Valley 2--Anthony Barton hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning, but the Marauders (0-5) lost in 10 innings in a nonconference game at Pasadena.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Pepperdine 5, UCLA 4--Isabela Petov and Zsofia Csapo won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and the eighth-ranked Waves (4-0) defeated seventh-ranked UCLA at the L.A. Tennis Center.
At No. 1 doubles, Petrov and Angela Lawrence teamed up for an 8-1 victory.
Ventura 9, Trade Tech 0--The Pirates (1-0) dominated in a nonconference opener by sweeping Trade Tech in a match at Ventura.
Ventura’s top three seeds won by scores of 6-0. The Pirates won six of their matches with 6-0 scores.
In doubles play, Mark Harradine and Andres Szlykowicz defeated Trade Tech’s David Ortega and Vincent Depry 6-1, 6-0.
