Two of the county’s top goalkeepers meet at 3 p.m. Friday in the first round of the Southern Section Division II playoffs when Cypress (18-5-1) travels to San Clemente (14-4-6). Cypress goalkeeper Matt Resor, last year’s Empire League defensive player of the year, has 13 shutouts. San Clemente goalkeeper Kevin Mehrens has 12 shutouts, including two against sixth-ranked Capistrano Valley. San Clemente, which finished in a three-way tie for second in the South Coast League but won the tiebreaker, is making its first playoff appearance in four years. The Tritons went 4-1 in the second half of league but will be without starting forward Darryl Boyer, who is ineligible because of grades. Cypress finished second in the Empire League at 7-3. El Dorado, which plays Pasadena or Arroyo in the first round, won the Empire.
