Moorpark Has Enough in Reserve

Reserve midfielder Michelle Glass scored with three minutes to play Wednesday, lifting the Moorpark High girls’ soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Notre Dame in a Southern Section Division III wild-card match at Moorpark.

Glass entered late and scored the winning goal by converting a corner kick by Tracey Milburn.

Elizabeth Christensen and Kaila Trejos also scored for the Musketeers (15-5), who led, 2-0, in the second half before Melissa Rubey scored twice for Notre Dame (11-11).

Moorpark, the Frontier League champion, plays a first-round match Saturday at Atascadero, the Los Padres League champion.

In other girls’ Southern Section wild-card matches:

Thousand Oaks 4, Quartz Hill 1--Molly Bauer scored twice, including a tie-breaking goal in the 60th minute, against the Rebels (11-5-6) in a Division I match at Thousand Oaks.

The Lancers (13-7-2), third-place finishers in the Marmonte League, play at Arcadia in a first-round match Saturday.

Valencia 2, Temple City 1--Sara Foster and Kelly Ramos scored goals at Temple City (20-2) to lead the Vikings (12-6-4) to their first playoff victory in the program’s two-year varsity history.

Foster scored from 30 yards out in the 22nd minute. Christine Lassei’s free kick set up Ramos’ goal at the 34th minute.

Valencia, third-place finisher in the Foothill League, will play at Buena, the Channel League champion, on Saturday in the first round.

Hart 7, Palmdale 0--Erin Misaki scored three goals against the Falcons (7-12-2) in a Division I match at Hart.

Hart (20-1-2), the Foothill League champion, plays Saturday at Crescenta Valley, the Pacific League champion.

Calabasas 3, Morro Bay 0--Kelly Abrams, Brooke Niles and Jessica Armacost each scored in the second half for the host Coyotes (10-6-3) in a Division III match.

Calabasas, Frontier League runner-up, travels to Rio Hondo League champion La Canada for a first-round match Saturday.

BOYS

Palmdale 3, Hoover 1--Bobby French, Wes Lisska and Anthony Valentino scored for the Falcons (15-1-7) and Sevan Der Gevoraian scored for the Tornadoes (6-8-4) in a Division I match at Palmdale.

Hoover made its first postseason appearance in six years.

Palmdale, a Golden League co-champion, plays a first-round match Saturday against Royal, the Marmonte League champion.

Camarillo 1, Santa Maria 0--Christian Routzen scored with nine minutes to play, lifting the Scorpions (15-5-3) past the Saints (9-18-1) in a Division I match at Camarillo.

Routzen converted the rebound of his own shot after it was mishandled by the goalkeeper.

Camarillo, the Marmonte League’s third-place entry, plays Saturday at Rio Mesa, the Channel League champion. The teams split two regular-season matches.

Santa Monica 2, Quartz Hill 0--Omar Hernandez and Marcin Jozkowitcz scored second-half goals to lift the Vikings (13-7-5) past the Rebels (11-6-6) in a Division I match at Santa Monica.

Carpinteria 3, Nordhoff 2--Brent Bihari and Justin Gagnon scored second-half goals but the Rangers (4-8-4) fell to the host Warriors (9-10) in a Division IV match.
