BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Is the third time the charm for Mission Viejo? The Diablos (18-10) lost two South Coast games to top-ranked Mater Dei (27-2), but the two get in the ring again at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Aliso Niguel High in a Southern Section Division I-A quarterfinal game. Mission Viejo has had impressive playoff victories over University and Aliso Niguel. Mater Dei andout point guard Kevin Augustine (USC), who missed Tuesday’s game against Dana Hills after spraining his right knee against El Toro in the first round, might not play. Monarch Coach Gary McKnight says it’s 50-50 at best if Augustine will play. In Division II-AA, Inglewood (19-7) was to meet Villa Park (22-4) at Chapman University, but a set of bleachers at Hutton Center is inoperable, so the site is still undecided.
