Unbeaten OCC Shuts Out Saddleback

With two outs and the bases loaded, Molly Sinclair hit a single in the ninth inning to drive in the winning runs for Orange Coast, which beat Saddleback, 3-0, in Orange Empire Conference softball Wednesday at Saddleback.

Amanda Ward pitched all nine innings and had six strikeouts for Orange Coast (4-0, 1-0).

In other Orange Empire Conference softball:

Cypress 5, Golden West 0--Kelly Humphries, two for three, hit a bases-loaded double in the first inning, driving in Jessica Walker and Aimee Weathers for Cypress (15-1, 1-0).


Lisa Parra was two for three for Golden West (2-4-1, 0-1).

Fullerton 8, Irvine Valley 0 (5 mercy)--Laura Blain (3-2) allowed only one hit in five innings of play to lead Fullerton (8-5, 1-0) in the conference opener.

Lynette Velazquez hit a double and Debra Hargrane had two singles for the Hornets. Irvine Valley is 9-4, 0-1.

In nonconference golf:


Saddleback 379, Rio Hondo 379, Citrus 393, Golden West 438--Mike McGinley, Jeremy Eastman and Bill Bodensteiner each shot a three-over par 75 to lead Saddleback at Tijeras Creek Golf Club. James Walker led Golden West with an 80.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:

Orange Coast 3, Palomar 0--Jason Klems had 15 kills and Andy Murdie had 10 in the 15-8, 15-3, 15-8 victory for Orange Coast (5-0, 3-0). Palomar is 3-1, 2-1.
