It’s gut-check time for the Simi Valley High boys’ basketball team, which faces top-seeded Long Beach Poly in a Southern Section Division I-AA quarterfinal game at 7:30 tonight at Royal High.

The Pioneers, who start two freshmen and two sophomores, face a Jackrabbit team that, even without injured Stanford-bound guard Mike McDonald, destroyed Channel Islands, 85-42.

In a Division I-A quarterfinal, two of the regions’ best will meet when Hart plays Antelope Valley at 7:30 tonight at Lancaster High.

College Baseball: At 2 p.m., CS Dominguez Hills at Pepperdine. At 2:30 p.m., Cal Lutheran at Occidental.

Women’s Basketball: At noon, Pepperdine vs. Santa Clara in West Coast Conference Tournament at Loyola Marymount. At 7 p.m., Antelope Valley at Moorpark in first round of JC Southern California Regionals.

College Softball: At 2 p.m., Cal Lutheran at Redlands.

College Swimming: At 2:30 p.m., Chaffey at Valley.

Women’s Tennis: At 2 p.m., Cal Lutheran at Biola University.

College Track and Field: At 2 p.m., Glendale and Ventura at Canyons; Moorpark, Cuesta and Santa Monica at Santa Barbara.

Men’s Volleyball: At 6 p.m., Pierce at Santa Barbara City.
