Concordia Gets the Jump on Biola to Win Easily, 75-57

Concordia scored the first 19 points of the game and defeated Biola, 75-57, in the semifinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball tournament Friday at Concordia.

Top-seeded Concordia (27-5) won its 15th consecutive game and advanced to the conference final. The Eagles will host Fresno Pacific, an 88-64 winner over Azusa Pacific, in the title game Wednesday.

Seventh-seeded Biola (3-25) didn’t score until the 12-minute 16-second mark of the first half and trailed, 38-22, at the half. Biola cut the deficit to seven, 50-43, midway through the second half, but Angela Sather scored four of Concordia’s next six points to push the margin back up to 13.

Sather, the conference player of the year, scored a season-high 35 points and had a game-high 12 rebounds.

Concordia, which set a record for victories in a season, made six of six free throws in the final minute.

Heather Carll, Concordia’s all-conference center, scored 11 of her 15 points in the first half. She had 11 rebounds.
