Huntington Beach Coach Rocky Ciarelli said the Oilers didn’t pass very well against then-No. 1 Esperanza in the Division I final of Orange County Championships. Masuda was still able to keep the offense going. His blocking was also key to the 15-13, 15-12 victory. He was named the MVP of the division.

* Woodbridge, sophomore. Won 6-2, 6-1, 6-0 in victory over Palos Verdes Peninsula and won two of three in victory over Dana Hills.

Chris Myrtle/Baseball/Pitcher

* Heritage Christian, junior. Pitched one-hitter with 14 strikeouts in victory over L.A. Ribet Academy. Also hit .500 with three RBIs.
