NEWBURY PARK — Lorenzo Romar, Pepperdine University’s men’s basketball coach, will be the keynote speaker at a Promise Keepers Rally for men at 6 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church at 803 Knollwood Drive in Newbury Park.
The meeting is open to all area men and boys and will be used as preparation for the larger Promise Keepers Rally to be held at the Los Angeles Coliseum in May.
Promise Keepers is an organization that allows men to acknowledge their responsibilities and reaffirm their commitments to family, marriage and community.
Before going to Pepperdine, Romar was assistant coach for the 1995 championship UCLA Bruins basketball team and played several years in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Sunday’s meeting will also feature music by George Rowe. Doug Baird, music minister at the First Christian Church, will lead a time of praise.
For more information, call the First Christian Church at 498-2129.
