In another Fountain Valley Tournament game:

Marina 4, Ocean View 0--Heather Hagen pitched a six-hit shutout with nine strikeouts for Marina (7-7-1).

Rosary 3-8, Fullerton 0-0--Erin Connors and Natalie Golda each went two for three with an RBI and a run scored for Rosary (13-4).

In the first game of the doubleheader, Marissa Perez (one run and one RBI) and Suzanne Lieber (two runs) were each two for three for the Royals. Christy Ledford gave up six hits and struck out nine for Rosary.

Western 1-4, Santa Ana Valley 0-2--Adrienne Ratajczak was one for three with an RBI double for Western (8-8).

In the first game of the doubleheader, Ratajczak was two for three with four RBIs to lead Western to a 4-2 victory. Andrea LaPena (8-8) gave up a total of seven hits in both games and struck out 17 for the Pioneers.

In Sunset League baseball:

Fountain Valley 3, Esperanza 1--Paul DeVries singled in the game-winner in a three-run sixth for seventh-ranked Fountain Valley (11-5, 5-0).

In the sixth, Nick Stavale doubled with one out. Tim Crosby singled and advanced to second on the throw to home, driving in Stavale to tie the score, 1-1. DeVries singled, driving in Crosby for the go ahead run, and Nick Spatafore tripled, driving in DeVries to cap the three-run inning.

Cameron Nielsen (6-1) held top-ranked Esperanza (13-3, 4-1) to an unearned run on two hits.

In nonleague baseball:

La Habra 13, San Gabriel Bosco Tech 4--Manny Valenzuela was two for three with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored and Damien Burgess hit a two-run homer and had three RBIs for La Habra (8-5).

In the first game of the doubleheader, Valenzuela drove in the game-winning run with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 6-5 victory for the Highlanders. Freshman Kyle Ballard pitched two innings in relief to improve to 3-0 for La Habra.
