Westlake Golfers Are Up to Par Even Without Kohut

The Westlake High golf team showed its depth Wednesday, shooting a team score of seven-over par in a 177-199 nonleague victory over Thousand Oaks in a nine-hole match at Westlake Golf Course.

Ian Medlock and Brian Kang each shot one-under par 33 for the Warriors (16-3), who played without J.T. Kohut, their top player, who was at a junior tournament.

Hart 357, Moorpark 416, Newbury Park 416--Geoff Voelker shot an even-par 68 and Ryan Wyman shot 71 for the Indians (11-1) in a nonleague match at Los Robles Golf Course in Thousand Oaks.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Royal 9, Calabasas 9--The Highlanders (6-8) won a nonleague match on games, 75-74, when the Coyotes’ No. 1 doubles team of Trevor Hinden and Brandon Parker defaulted its three sets.

Westlake 16, Simi Valley 2--Erik Janson, Alex Yaftali and Narbe Zohrabi swept at Nos. 1-3 singles for the Warriors (12-0, 8-0) in a Marmonte League match at the North Ranch Tennis Club.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Harvard-Westlake d. Crespi, 15-8, 15-2, 8-15, 15-10--Trevor Julian had 28 kills for the Wolverines (7-2, 5-1) in a Mission League match at Crespi.

Ryan Hill had 18 kills, Steve Franklin had 15 kills and Matt Miller had 48 assists for the Celts (5-5, 3-3).

Taft d. Cleveland, 15-4, 15-3, 15-10--Joe Nargi had 18 kills and nine aces for the host Toreadors (7-2, 4-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference match.

Amad Yakhi had 10 kills for the Cavaliers.

Chatsworth d. Kennedy, 15-10, 15-11, 15-9--Chris Wilson had 15 kills and six blocks, Stephen Wiessner had 11 kills and 11 blocks, and Arash Khairi had 47 assists for the Chancellors (6-3, 5-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Chatsworth.

Jeff Toon had 17 kills for Kennedy (5-4, 2-4).

Littlerock d. Antelope Valley, 15-6, 15-5, 15-8--Marc Mailander had eight kills, seven aces and seven digs for the Lobos (7-4, 2-1) in a Golden League match.

Palmdale d. Ridgecrest Burroughs, 15-12, 15-7, 15-10--Aaron Winchester had 14 kills and four blocks for the Falcons (4-4, 1-1) in a Golden League match.
