Share

* At Mt. San Antonio College (Walnut), Saturday

* Field events, 8:30 a.m.; running events, 8 a.m.

* An estimated 3,000 athletes are expected to compete in one of the nation’s largest participatory outdoor meets. Although a variety of individual events will be held, the emphasis is on relays. Aside from the traditional 400- and 1,600-meter relays, teams will also run shuttle hurdles, 800, 3,200 and 6,400 relays. Unfortunately for meet organizers, Pasadena Muir, the top-ranked boys’ team in the nation, will not bring any of its top athletes. Its participation will be limited to B team relays. The girls’ races should be competitive with Long Beach Wilson, Long Beach Poly and Playa del Rey St. Bernard expected to battle in the sprint relays. The meet concludes at 7 p.m. with the 6,400 relay.
