Stetler, Herman Power Buena, 6-1

Home runs by Kim Stetler and Kris Herman powered Buena High over Oxnard, 6-1, in a Channel League softball game Friday at Buena.

Stetler had a three-run blast in the first inning and Herman’s solo shot was part of a two-run third for the Bulldogs (9-5-1, 6-2 in league play).

Amber Carr (4-2) went the distance, striking out six and allowing only two hits.

The loss dropped fourth-place Oxnard to 7-8, 4-4.

Chaminade 4, Harvard-Westlake 2--Maureen LeCocq (9-4) scattered six hits, struck out 10 and walked one in a complete game and the Eagles (9-5, 3-0) held off a late rally by the Wolverines (14-3, 1-3) in a Mission League game at Chaminade Middle School.

With Chaminade leading, 3-0, with two out in the sixth, Harvard-Westlake scored two runs but Sandra Deckers grounded out to end the inning and the Eagles added a run in their at-bat.

Louisville 7, Notre Dame 0--Becky Witt was four for four and scored three runs in a Mission League game at Tarzana Park. Jemma Santos had two doubles and one run batted in for the Royals (9-5, 2-2).

Alemany 7, Flintridge Sacred Heart 0--Meghann Reiss hit her third home run of the year for Alemany (14-3, 3-0) in a Mission League game at Flintridge Sacred Heart.

Calabasas 5, Santa Paula 0--Christie Culver pitched a one-hitter in a Frontier League game at Santa Paula.

Meredith Eiszhad two hits and an RBI for Calabasas (7-8, 6-3).

Rio Mesa 3, Hueneme 0--Marcella Ramirez pitched a two-hitter to lead Rio Mesa in a Channel League game at Hueneme.

Santa Barbara 12, Ventura 0--Heather McFarlane and Kitty Sexton had the only hits for Ventura (3-15, 1-7) in a Channel League game at Ventura.

McFarlane singled in the second and Sexton singled in the fifth. Both are junior varsity players brought up this week after nine Ventura varsity players were suspended for disciplinary reasons.
