When the Southern Section softball finals begin Friday at Mayfair Park in Lakewood, teams from Temecula Linfield, Santa Maria Righetti and Irvine Woodbridge will be trying to tie a section record for titles with five. Huntington Beach Marina and Santa Maria St. Joseph share the record.

Two games are scheduled for Friday and four Saturday. A look at the matchups:

Division I, Santa Ana Foothill (29-2) vs. Upland (28-5): Top-seeded Foothill has won 14 games in a row, including a 1-0 victory over defending champion Santa Ana Mater Dei on Tuesday. The Knights, who last won a title in 1992, swept a doubleheader from Upland earlier this season.

Division II, Irvine Woodbridge (33-2) vs. Santa Maria Righetti (33-2): The winner ties a section record with five titles. Top-seeded Woodbridge, which lost to Saugus in the final last year, has won 28 games in a row since an early season loss to Foothill.
