Dennis Has Become Menace for Cleveland
In just two games for Cleveland High after transferring from Bell-Jeff, junior guard Kent Dennis has shown he will fit right in.
Dennis scored 18 points for the Cavaliers on Tuesday in a 75-69 pool-play victory over Sacramento Encina in the War On The Floor tournament, hosted by Sylmar but played at Canoga Park because the Spartans’ gymnasium is being re-floored.
Dennis scored 16 points in Monday’s 60-52 victory over Rolling Hills Prep in a tournament opener.
Kenny Mason scored 15 points for Cleveland, which is 2-0 in pool play. Encina is 0-2.
St. John Bosco 61, Valencia 60--The Vikings (1-1) led by four points with two minutes remaining when the Braves (1-1) went on a 7-2 run.
Fabian Leon scored 17 points and Jerrohn Jordan had 11 for Valencia.
Notre Dame 43, Chaminade 29--John Murray scored 19 points and the Knights beat their Mission League rivals.
Chaminade is 1-1 in tournament play, while Notre Dame is 2-0.
Canoga Park 61, Hart 57--Michael Bell scored 15 points for the Hunters (1-1), while J.T. Stotts had 15 for the Indians (0-2).
Sylmar 53, Canyon 42--Brandon Jacobs had 12 points and George Wrightster added 10 for the Spartans (2-0). Canyon is 0-2 in tournament play.
Compton Dominguez 61, Harvard-Westlake 50--Victor Munoz scored 17 points for the Wolverines (0-2).
Tayshaun Prince and Michael Carson each scored 17 points for the Dons (2-0).
Muir 75, Chatsworth 47--Donnie McNeal scored 18 points for the Chancellors (0-2).
Khmori House and Joe Bakhoum each scored 16 points for the Mustangs (2-0) and Jeff Washington added 15.
Taft 61, Santa Monica 33--Amir BarNetzer had 27 points and Harold Shevlin scored 19 for the Toreadors (1-1).
San Fernando 60, Rolling Hills Prep 47--Devin Montgomery scored 26 points for the Tigers (2-0).
Rolling Hills Prep is 0-2.
