48 Teams to Compete in Volleyball Tourney
The Ocean Pacific U.S. Open of women’s professional beach volleyball will be this weekend south of Huntington Beach Pier.
During the three-day tournament, 48 teams from around the world will compete for $50,000 in prize money.
Top seeds Holly McPeak and Lisa Arce will be shooting for their fourth straight major tournament win. Other featured players will include Nancy Reno, Liz Masakayan and Karolyn Kirby.
Qualifying will begin at 11 a.m. today. The doubles matches will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
ABC-TV will tape the 3 p.m. Sunday finals for broadcast on July 5.
