Bakersfield Beats JetHawks, 11-6
The Lancaster JetHawks’ magic number for making their first appearance in the California League playoffs remained at four Monday night, thanks to a 11-6 loss to the Bakersfield Blaze at Sam Lynn Ballpark in Bakersfield.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the JetHawks (39-25) and dropped them three games behind the Valley Division-leading High Desert Mavericks (42-22) in the race for the second-half championship.
The defeat also cut their lead over the third-place Modesto A’s (38-26) to one game with six games left.
Lancaster and Modesto, which beat the Visalia Oaks, 6-0, on Monday, are battling for the division’s wild-card spot in the playoffs.
All six of the Jethawks’ remaining games are on the road, including tonight’s opener of a three-game series against Modesto.
