Vigilantes’ Ehler Gets Another Shutout

Dan Ehler pitched his second consecutive shutout to help the Vigilantes to a 7-0 victory over Chico in a Western Baseball League game Monday in Chico.

Ehler, a right-hander, was coming off a one-hitter in which he beat Chico, 3-0, Thursday. It was also the third consecutive victory for Ehler (4-8), who had five walks and five strikeouts.

Mike Cowell, the No. 9 hitter, had two hits and drove in three runs for the Vigilantes, who won their third consecutive game. Cowell had a two-run single in the seventh to put Mission Viejo (19-20) ahead, 3-0.

Bret Barberie added three hits, including two doubles and scored two runs, and Sean Drinkwater also had two hits and scored twice for Mission Viejo. Barberie has 16 doubles this season.

Alan Burke had a hit and drove in two runs for the Vigilantes.

Chico (20-19) hosts the Vigilantes tonight and Wednesday.
