STINGRAYS TONIGHT
Opponent--Seattle Reign.
Time--7:30.
Records--Long Beach 8-8, Seattle 6-12.
Site--Pyramid, Long Beach State.
Update--Looking to eliminate the turnovers that have been the difference in a two-game losing streak, the StingRays hope to get well against the ABL team with the worst record. Trouble is, Seattle had the worst record Friday too, and upended the StingRays, 85-61. Seattle also beat Long Beach on Nov. 9, scoring seven points in the last eight seconds. The Reign is led by rookie-of-the-year candidate Shalonda Enis, who averages 17.5 points and 7.8 rebounds. Long Beach Coach Maura McHugh will no doubt urge added defensive intensity on her and another rookie, Astou Ndiaye of Senegal and Southern Nazarene University of Oklahoma. She had 18 points in 18 minutes Friday. The StingRays may be a bit hobbled tonight. Wing Beverly Williams was limping on a strained thigh muscle Sunday against Columbus and Yolanda Griffith wrenched her right shoulder.
