Chatsworth Boys Topple North Hollywood

Montae McFarland scored 17 points and Richard Harrison added 16 points and 10 rebounds to lift the Chatsworth High boys’ basketball team over North Hollywood, 78-72, Monday in a nonconference game at North Hollywood.

Donnie McNeal also scored 16 points for the Chancellors (2-0). Keron Wilkerson led the Huskies (0-1) with 24 points and DeJon Lee had 21.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Poly 48, Locke 40--Ciara Jeffries had 18 points and Quiana Jeffries had 13 to lead the Parrots (2-0) by the Saints (1-1) in second-round action at the Belmont tournament. Poly advances to play North Hollywood today in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m.

North Hollywood 76, Belmont 22--Markia Derby had 21 points and seven steals, Tashean Thomas had 15 goals and six steals and Richelle Sherman had six points and 11 rebounds for the Huskies (2-0).

BOYS’ SOCCER

Chaminade 4, Canyon 3--Trailing, 3-1, with 20 minutes to play, the Eagles rallied on three goals by outside midfielder Scott Bowman for a nonleague victory at Chaminade in both teams’ season opener.

Bowman’s hat trick came after a fracas resulted in the ejections of two Canyon players and an Eagle player. The game continued with Chaminade fielding 10 players and the Cowboys nine.

Calabasas 3, Oak Park 1--Itzik Rappaport scored twice and Brian Lando once in a nonleague victory for the Coyotes in a season opener for both teams at Calabasas.
