Souped-Up Campbell Hall Wins Tournament, 67-64

Brandon Woodard had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Campbell Hall High defeated Coast Union, 67-64, on Saturday to win the Laguna Blanca boys’ basketball tournament.

Josh Glass, selected most valuable player, added 18 points and six steals, and Aaron Kerr had 17 points for Campbell Hall (6-0).

Matt Jennt had 24 points for Mt. Union.

Burroughs 62, Hoover 51--Preston Tucker scored 15 points, and Kevin Krose and Jeremy Cartee each scored 14 for the Indians (5-1) at Hoover.

The Indians reversed a 65-54 loss to the Tornadoes (5-1) in the second round of last week’s Hoover-Burbank tournament.

Mark Hull had 25 points and 13 rebounds for Hoover.

Montclair Prep 66, West Torrance 50--Rocky Steryo scored 27 points, and Jed Hall had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Mounties (4-1) in the consolation final of the El Segundo tournament.

L.A. Baptist 80, Faith Baptist 62--Tim Greer and Stefan Grasu each had 14 points for Faith Baptist in the seventh-place game of the Fillmore tournament.

Mid City Magnet 82, Bell-Jeff 73--Ruben Douglas’ 35 points and Mike West’s 33-point, 15-rebound effort weren’t enough for the Guards (3-1) in the Arroyo Tournament championship.

Ramesh Graham, a 6-5 forward, scored 29 for Mid-City (6-0).

Fillmore 56, Nordhoff 49--Jesus Jasso was held to seven points but was selected most valuable player for Fillmore, which won its own tournament. Mario Galvez had 20 points and 14 rebounds for Fillmore (6-3). Chris Christofferson had 22 points for Nordhoff.

GIRLS

Nordhoff 55, St. Joseph 39--Erin Barker had 22 points, five rebounds and four steals and the Rangers won the Nordhoff tournament.

Barker was named most valuable player.

Nel Becker had 15 points, seven assists and four steals for Nordhoff (4-0).

Christen Roper scored 10 of her 12 points in the third quarter, when Nordhoff outscored the Knights, 20-4, to take a 47-21 lead.

Agoura 82, L.A. Baptist 24--Meghan Skelly had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Betsy Novack had 13 points and 12 rebounds for Agoura (3-2), which finished third in the Nordhoff tournament.

St. Bonaventure 58, Westlake 55--Stacy Howard had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and sank two free throws with 15 seconds left to help the Seraphs finish ninth in the San Marcos tournament.

Shannon Fink clinched the victory for the Seraphs (3-4) by making her fifth steal with two seconds left.

Royal 70, Santa Ynez 67--Alicia Weber scored 15 points, including one of her four three-point baskets in overtime, and the Highlanders won the Gold Coast tournament. Weber, who also had 10 assists, was selected most valuable player.

Louisville 46, La Reina 33--Megan Wiser scored 10 points and Kari Crawley added seven points, six assists and six steals for the Royals (6-0) in a nonleague game at Louisville.
