* LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (2-7) at PROVIDENCE (3-3), 4:30, KXLU (88.9 Westchester)--Loyola Marymount missed an opportunity to make its record more respectable Sunday by losing, 70-65, to Brown, which had no player averaging double figures in scoring. The lone bright spot for the Lions was point guard Haywood Eaddy, who had a career-high 30 points--26 in the second half. The strategy to beating Providence is simple: stop 6-foot-6 guard Jamel Thomas, who is the only Friar averaging double figures (20.4) and leads the team in rebounding (8.0). In the only previous game between the schools, Providence beat Loyola Marymount, 83-76, at Gersten Pavilion last season.
